Novo Nordisk increasingly uses monkeys for animal testing

Animal Protection Denmark and Novo Nordisk differ in opinions about whether there are any alternatives to using non-human primates for testing the safety of new drugs.

The amount of monkeys that Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk uses for testing has quadrupled since 2019. That’s not at all in line with the company’s own goal to bring down the number of animals used – with the ultimate goal of eliminating animal testing altogether, reports Danish national broadcaster DR.
