
Member states of the EU should take ”urgent measures” to combat an imminent problem concerning a shortage of medical equipment in Europe due to a lack of approvals for the market, according to the Biomedical Alliance in Europe, an umbrella organization for 36 industry organizations.
Biomedical Alliance in Europe fears that essential medical equipment will disappear due the EU’s new Medical Device Regulation (MDR), which has changed the European approval processes for such devices since coming into effect in May last year.
