US audiologists expect Danish Demant and GN to gain market share in the world’s largest hearing aid market with their latest launches of top products - Oticon Intent for Demant and Nexia for GN Resound.

The expectation is based on a Barclays survey among US audiologists, presented by the UK bank in an analysis last week.

”Both Demant and GN are expected to gain market share among audiologists, and of those who have fitted or demonstrated Oticon Intent, 18% think it is a significantly better product than existing products on the market and 52% think it is moderately better,” Barclays wrote in the analysis.

The Barclays survey also indicates that a 4% sequential increase in hearing tests is expected in the second quarter compared to the first quarter, pointing to increasing volumes in the market.

However, there is also some concern about pricing, as a majority of audiologists surveyed also expect increasing price competition.
