Danish scientists raise alarm after discovering link between Bayer drug and brain cancer

The drug Androcur from German pharmaceutical giant Bayer has resulted in severe side effects on several occasions, when patients developed a lethal type of brain cancer after receiving the drug. Researchs raise alarm and call for the DMA to reassess its recommendation, while Bayer is silent.

German pharmaceutical company Bayer might soon be the center of an impending scandal.

Researchers at Copenhagen-based hospital Rigshospitalet have documented a clear link between the drug Androcur (cyproterone acetate) from Bayer and a serious type of cancerous brain tumor known as meningioma, which are potentially lethal tumors in the brain membrane that usually require surgical removal.
