American senators behind over-the-counter hearing aid law demand answers from the FDA: When will the sales guidelines be ready?

Two senators who are behind the law about over-the-counter hearing aid sales in the USA are now confronting the FDA directly, demanding to know when the authority will release its guidelines for the use of hearing aids sold without consulting a doctor.

FDA - give us an answer by 19. December!

This was the clear message from two influential US senators, republican Chuck Grassley and democrat Elizabeth Warren, who worked together on a law for sales of hearing aids as over-the-counter medical devices in the USA, which was accepted in 2017 and which comes into force in August 2020, at the latest.
