Pharmaceutical giants prepare for battle with new corona variant

A number of pharmaceutical companies have started investigating how they can adapt their existing vaccines or design new ones to tackle the new Covid-19 variant, which is spreading rapidly.

Researchers all over the world are fighting tooth and nail to identify chinks in the armor of the new coronavirus mutation, called the Omicron variant, which has spread fear throughout the population and the markets over the past few days.

Moderna, Pfizer/Biontech, Johnson & Johnson and Astrazeneca, which have all developed first-generation Covid-19 vaccines, have all started sequencing the new variant, reports the Financial Times.
