HERA launches first work plan with millions in R&D financing

This year, Europe’s new Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority will channel many millions of euros into R&D, for instance going to pre-clinical therapies for diseases with unmet medical needs, documents reveal.

PARIS – As restrictions are easing up in many places around Europe, investments must be ramped up to secure the EU against future pandemics.

Recently, the European Commission publicized the first work plan for its newly established Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA), which enters 2022 with a budget of around EUR 1.3bn.
