EMA pays respects after sudden death of Research and Innovation leader

Jordi Llinares Garcia, Head of Research and Innovation at the European Medicines Agency, has died unexpectedly aged just 52.

The European Medicines Agency's Head of Research and Innovation, Jordi Llinares Garcia, has died unexpectedly, the agency reports in a statement on its website.

Garcia, who was from Spain, was the person behind the European Prime program, which accelerated the regulatory process for potentially groundbreaking medicine.
