Ambu's new bronchoscope opens the door to particularly demanding procedures

Having won approvals in the US and EU for the fifth generation of single-use bronchoscopes, Ambu has gained access to operating rooms where procedures with ”high clinical requirements” take place, says Ambu’s chief marketing officer.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved Ambu’s fifth generation bronchoscope portfolio, Ascope 5 Broncho, which alongside May’s European authorization means the Danish medtech firm is now ready to launch the single-use product on both markets.

The new bronchoscope, which is used to examine the lungs and airways, will expand Ambu’s market, writes Chief of Marketing Bassel Rifai in an email to MedWatch. Having now passed a certain quality threshold, the device can be used for particularly demanding procedures that take place in bronchoscopy suites.
