Demant's hearing implant division struggled with recalls and pandemic pressure

From the second half of 2022, Demant will no longer sell hearing implants. The company’s implant division, Oticon Medical, has been challenged by past recalls and the pandemic situation, says CEO Søren Nielsen.

Hearing aid manufacturer Demant has just announced its intention to divest its business division that has long been outwardly signaled to be one of its strategically important areas.

Despite having previously demonstrated fine growth, the hearing implant division, which the company has invested heavily in for many years, has lately been experiencing headwinds on several fronts. As a result, Demant has decided to focus its efforts elsewhere.
