Novo expands research collaboration with US universities

A collaboration between Novo Nordisk and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) resulted in robotic pill, SOMA. Now, the company is continuing, and expanding, the partnership.


Novo Nordisk is continuing to explore alternative drug delivery technologies to conventional syringes and pen injectors.

The Danish pharmaceutical firm began these explorations in 2015 with two professors at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Robert Langer and Giovanni Traverso. Since then, Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), which is the teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, has been added to the mix.
