Pharmaceutical firms prepare for potential Russian gas halt

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has caused many uncertainties on the energy market, where gas prices in particular have exploded. Danish life science companies like Novo Nordisk, Leo Pharma and ALK are working on backup plans, should Russian gas be off the table, and are well prepared, say respective representatives.

Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine continues to ripple throughout the energy market, creating intense price spikes and general uncertainties.

Several life science firms such as Novo Nordisk, ALK and AJ Vaccines with production in Denmark are taking stock of a situation where increasing energy expenses result in higher production costs, and are considering what to do if gas supplies from Russia are disturbed in the future.
